so if we are intensive users. And it is that, a mobile that gives off too much heat not only poses a risk to its own performance and even the possibility of its components being damaged, but it can also be harmful to us if we burn ourselves while using it.We already know that it is not a good idea to put the mobile in a refrigerator or do any other crazy thing that involves a sudden shock of temperatures. However, the question remains in the air about whether a fan that is attached to the smartphone can help reduce its temperature.Works? We have tested one of the best sellers and in this post we will give you an answer.DollaTek Phone Cooling Fan Semiconductor Cooler for Mobile Phones, Cooling Fan for Cool Phone Temperatures - BlackThe first thing we must tell you, if you are not already familiar with this particular category of gadgets, is that there are several types of mobile fans. All of them are attached with a clamp on the back of the device, and can be adjusted in a very comfortable way. They can have lights like ours, have one, two or even more fans that turn their blades for the mission of cooling the mobile.Although if there is something to highlight, it is that they can be powered by cable or with their own power source, which is still a rechargeable battery that, unfortunately, is not eternal. In our case, we have chosen the CHS01 model from the DollaTek brand, which incorporates a double fan, a set of lights that changes randomly and that works only when powered through its USB-C cable. It also does not need a lot of energy to work, serving itself with the mobile itself (although in this case a USB-C to USB-C cable would be needed and the one it comes with is from USB-C to USB-A).It is one of the best rated on Amazon and at a price that does not exceed 20 euros. That said, we tell you that we have done several tests to check its effectiveness. For this, we have used the mobile in different circumstances. We've put it in the sun, we've played high-performance games, and we've even edited video. We've even done all of this while charging, which certainly helps the internal temperature rise.It is not that these tests are the most extreme, but they are more than enough for practically any mobile to heat up.And more in times like the current ones, with temperatures of up to 40ºC in many places, as has been our case.In short, they are conditions that cause most phones to heat up.We have tested it on a Huawei P30 Pro, a device that despite being a high-end, is from three generations ago and is not characterized by having a great cooling system. Therefore, a perfect example to test the fan against the high temperatures it reaches inside.Knowing what temperature the mobile has internally is not something simple a priori, but there is an app that allows you to know the temperature of the components. This is CPU-Z, which offers a tab focused precisely on this data.Occasionally, as has been our case, data does not appear there, but it does in the battery section.Taking into account that the battery is one of the elements that suffers the most from high temperatures, we believe that it is a more than sufficient indicator to check if this fan works. With an almost unbearable heat, it was not necessary to give too much power to the mobile for CPU-Z to show us the battery with an internal temperature of 39º.In fact, we only made a couple of calls and we already felt that the mobile was burning in our hand.Time to put the fan to the test.Fan on and, connected to the mobile itself, we observed that in a matter of about 3-4 minutes the temperature had already been reduced by at least 2º.After a few more minutes, the temperature dropped a maximum of 4º.CPU-Z marked us 35º and from there we could not go down. However, and now that we were getting hot, we decided to go further and start a new game of Geshin Impact, a highly demanding game on a graphic level that we sensed was going to heat up the phone.Well, even with the fan on, the temperature increased to the 39º temperature that we had at the beginning of the test, when we had no fan.On paper we could think badly of this fan. However, we chose to remove it and continue playing. We got a great surprise when we saw how the mobile reached 42º of temperature in its battery. Therefore, this served to demonstrate that, although the phone was still hot, the fan regulated the temperature much better. And more with such a warm atmosphere and such a demanding game.At home it was much better than in the street, although without air conditioning it was also hot. This is a very common circumstance in many homes in the summer season, so testing the fan was an obligation. We started KineMaster and started editing video until the mobile reached 37.We turned on the fan and, unlike what happened on the street, the temperature dropped considerably. From the 37º that we had when placing the fan, in just a couple of minutes it had been reduced to 35º.After that time, the cell phone went down one or two degrees, although it was maintained in that range of 33-35º.Not bad and more considering the immediate effect that occurred. As we indicated previously, charging the mobile while using it and in places with warm temperatures causes the device to heat up in a matter of a few minutes.Said and done.Just a few minutes loading and only using social networks, the phone was already burning and CPU-Z marked a temperature of 39º.A madness that was the same as being in full sun on the street. We put the fan on and got the best performance from the fan, returning the phone to standard temperatures in just under 5 minutes.Specifically, it reached 32º and, although it sporadically rose a degree, it did not take long to resume that measurement.Of course, we decided to reopen the aforementioned game and the invention went to waste. With the mobile charging and the graphic demand in all its splendor, 41º were reached in the same time that it had dropped before.Based on all the evidence seen, we have several conclusions. As a general rule we will tell you that it does compensate, although it depends on the use you make of the mobile. Also, it will depend on where you use the device.A clear example of when this type of accessory is worthwhile is when the mobile is used a lot in video games and/or high-performance applications, which requires high energy consumption. In this case, it is more than likely that the device will heat up and not only will it slow down its performance, but it can also bother your hand.If on top of that we find typical high temperatures in summer, the recommendation becomes even more evident. However, not in all cases compensates. It may not be necessary even with intensive use of the device. This is where the device's own cooling system and the energy management of its main chip fully enter. One way to control whether your mobile is carrying out this energy management correctly is with apps like CPU-Z.If you see that the mobile controls the temperature even in these uses, it will not compensate you at all to buy a fan or any other accessory that serves to cool the device. We find a third case and it is the one in which you find yourself with a mobile that gets too hot even without intensive use.In these cases, it is more difficult for us to give a clear answer. And it is that, although it is true that the fan will help you regulate the internal temperature and that the device does not burn, it could also be more uncomfortable for you to have to carry that accessory attached.Even more so if on top of that it requires to be connected by cable like the gadget that we have analyzed in this post.Fans like these look very nice, they fulfill their function and they are available at a very good price. However, especially in the last case, but applying to all the others, you will have to sacrifice comfort and even mobility if the device needs to be connected to a power source.Carrying a powerbank can be useful in the latter case, but it will add another gadget that will continue to subtract points in comfort. And okay, these gadgets do not work miracles, but they work.Wow if they work.DollaTek Phone Cooling Fan Semiconductor Cooler for Mobile Phones, Cooling Fan for Cool Phone Temperatures - BlackShare Mobile fans, do they really
