The agreement with DAZN for LaLiga has a poisoned dart for Movistar and Orange customers

In addition, the OTT will have the Clásico from the first round, and Movistar, from the second. As soon as the winners were known, doubts arose about whether Movistar and DAZN would reach an agreement like the one with F1 to broadcast the entire day on both platforms. There were also many people who began to wonder if they could watch the top national competition through Orange.Negotiations began and, sure enough, agreements were reached. The first to announce it were DAZN and Movistar, which at the end of March confirmed that all the matches of the former could also be seen through the latter.First bad news for users: the agreement is not reciprocal and, unless everything changes in the coming weeks: DAZN will only show its five games, so we will continue to be tied to one operator if we want to see LaLiga in full.A priori, that agreement made us think of a round deal for Movistar, since it could continue to give all the football while saving more than 100 million euros per season compared to previous years. But that agreement had a fine print that we have not known until this week. And that small print also applies to the agreement that DAZN has reached with Orange this week.In the email that Movistar has sent this week to its customers, the operator explains "How to watch LaLiga Santander next season" and says that the new DAZN LaLiga channel will be integrated into the decoder, in addition to the Movistar Plus+ LaLiga channel that already existed. The problem comes when he tells us how we can watch the games on devices:The matches that are broadcast in LaLiga by Movistar Plus+, you can see them in the Movistar Plus+ app as before. And those that are broadcast on DAZN LaLiga, you can see them on the DAZN app.To do this, you will have to create your account at no additional cost.In other words, when we are at home, through the decoder, we can access the DAZN LaLiga channel from Movistar Plus+, but when we are away and want to watch it on a smartphone or tablet, we will have to do it from the DAZN app. That means that, every weekend, we will have to see who is broadcasting our team's game to find out in which app we can see it.But of course, to see the DAZN app you need a user account. In said email, Movistar assures that, as of August 1, it will send its clients a new communication explaining the steps to create the DAZN account. The DAZN subscription costs, for now (we don't know if it will go up to the football account), 12.99 euros per month. However, Movistar has been giving the account to its customers for a long time and we assume that it will continue to be so because the operator itself warns that "you will have to create your account at no additional cost".And what happens in the case of Orange?Exactly the same.In the joint statement with DAZN that he has issued this week, he explains the following:Orange TV customers will be able to enjoy the sports content provided by DAZN starting in August, both on a specific linear channel available on Orange TV decoders, and through the DAZN app, also available on decoders, as well as on Smart TVs and mobiles.Yes, Orange customers will also need the DAZN app to watch the matches on Smart TVs, mobiles and tablets because the DAZN LaLiga channel will only be available on Orange TV decoders. In this case, moreover, it is not specified whether Orange will give away a DAZN account to its customers. We imagine so, but we will have to wait for the operator to announce its new rates and television packages in the coming weeks. What is clear is that both the agreement that DAZN signed with Movistar and the one it has reached with Orange included a multi-device restriction in the fine print. And that detail will push many customers of both operators to create an account on the streaming platform while forcing them to download another app (in addition to Movistar Plus+ or Orange TV) and check which of them is broadcasting the match of his team every day.Two apps for the user, more users for DAZN.That's the summary. Is there something good in all this?Yes, it is a small detail, but there is.Movistar has the football channels covered in its app for Smart TV and Orange does not support simultaneous playback on the big screen and HD if it is already being viewed on the decoder.DAZN has no restrictions in this regard, so there will be games that we can watch on the big screen without having to send the content from the mobile or connect the laptop to the TV.In addition, if the end of simultaneous playback on DAZN is not confirmed (something that has been rumored for a long time), the matches could be seen in more places at the same time: through the Movistar Plus+ or Orange TV decoder, and on two devices with the DAZN app.Three in total instead of the two that there are now.Not everything was going to be bad in these agreements. For now, here are the download links for the DAZN app, it may come in handy from August.Share The agreement with DAZN for
