Laura has subsequently made the decision to hire out her DIY-obsessed spouse after spotting a similar perspective. James has reportedly already made significant changes to the family house, including building new beds, installing a kitchen, and creating a dining table from scratch. He is also skilled in painting, decorating, tiling, and installing carpets.

He is skilled at everything related to the house and garden. Laura started a website called “Rent My Handy Husband” and advertised on Nextdoor and Facebook.

The volume of responses she received astounded her. People were truly intrigued, she claimed. Some others misunderstood and believed she was renting James out for something quite different.

According to reports, after being forced to quit his job two years ago to assist Laura with his three children, two of whom are autistic, the former warehouse night shift worker finds the position to be ideal. He has been identified as being on the autism spectrum, but Laura went on to say that this makes him extremely meticulous and good at whatever DIY project he undertakes.

His current home assignment is building his own outside kitchen for summer days. Laura said, “The hire charges average around £35 a house and no job is too small. It can be as little as fitting a TV to the wall, fitting a blind or painting a fence.”

She further added, “Most people think it’s great. They say it’s sometimes hard to get builders to quote for little jobs as they’re not interested. James is perfect for things like putting flat packs together, putting up trampolines, building shelves and installing things.”

According to Laura, sometimes it is quicker and simpler to send someone in to complete a task that “wives” have felt like they have been waiting on their husbands to complete for a very long time. That’s where her concept originated from—life gets in the way, and those jobs get neglected.
