It’s not a house in the traditional sense of the word. But that’s exactly what helped it blast into the top spot as this week’s most popular home.

We’ve covered plenty of missile silos in the past, and whenever one comes up for sale, it’s a guarantee that clicks will soon follow. So we weren’t shocked when a decommissioned silo in Nebraska designed to withstand a nuclear attack won the popularity vote.

The underground property has been transformed into a one-bedroom bunker, while much of its former past as a missile storage is visible. For a buyer in search of a lair with allure, the massive structure is a true treat.

Back on terra firma, you also clicked on a Virginia home that could have been featured in “The Shining,” a transformed Indiana high school gym, and the Frank Lloyd Wright–inspired home of actor Aaron Paul in Idaho.

Price: $60,000 Why it’s here: This former church is in need of salvation. While divine intervention might be necessary to convert this structure into a home, the budget price offers room for a heavenly transformation.

Built in 1892, the property still has a number of beautiful stained-glass windows.

And buyer beware: The affordable price is reportedly due to nearby landfill issues.

Built in 1918, the three-bedroom residence still offers plenty of period architectural details such as crown molding, pocket doors, vintage wall sconces, and leaded glass. The primary suite upstairs has a fireplace, built-ins for extra storage, and even a “sleeping porch.”

Price: $1,400,000 Why it’s here: This luxury cabin offers country living and 30 acres of privacy.

Custom-built in 2010, the four-bedroom home features a stone archway, beautiful hardwood floors, and vaulted ceilings. The lower level has two separate living spaces and a kitchenette, which are ideal for entertaining. There’s also a barn for horses or livestock, and the heated shop with a full bathroom could be used as a studio or home office.

Price: $599,900 Why it’s here: This majestic three-bedroom antique is said to be one of Wilson‘s grandest homes.

Built in 1920, the spacious home has been well-maintained and impeccably updated over the decades. It features original hardwoods, mantel details, and a gorgeous staircase. Updates include a kitchen with marble countertops, an in-ground pool, and a heated room with a full bath above the garage, which could be used as a studio or home office.

Price: $299,000 Why it’s here: Calling all basketball lovers! It’s your chance to live year-round in a high school gym, much of which remains intact.

The former Wilkinson High School gym has been transformed into a spacious four-bedroom residence, but evidence of its past is visible in the flooring. Built in 1950, the 5,357-square-foot residence still features the original half-court.

Price: $1,349,500 Why it’s here: The interior of this Frank Lloyd Wright–inspired home of actor Aaron Paul from “Breaking Bad” fame will leave midcentury modern enthusiasts in awe.

Built in 1959, the spacious two-bedroom home comes with a geothermal/mineral pool in the living room. From the stone floors and wood ceilings to the walls of glass and doors inside and out, the bright and airy residence features an abundance of natural light.

Price: $550,000 Why it’s here: For a buyer in search of an underground lair, there’s no better option than a decommissioned missile silo. Designed to withstand nuclear attacks, these silos went up for sale as the Cold War wound down.

This one on 6 acres deep in the heart of cornhusker country is a decommissioned Atlas-F missile complex that once housed intercontinental ballistic missiles.

Today, the somewhat transformed property offers a two-story underground residence. One floor is described as “completely livable” with electrical, plumbing, and a kitchen. The lower level offers more space, but it will be up to the next owner to transform it. On that lower level, there’s also a 40-foot tunnel leading to the silo.
